Beer Review, Reunion '08

Reunion '08 Organic Red Rye Ale
Chico, CA

Appearance: Deep red body, clear, thin off-white head. No effervescence, no lacing. Head dissipates immediately. 3.5/5

Smell: It's a Rye Ale, so naturally there's a lot of rye. Other aromas include apples and cherries, hints of crisp hops. Sweet, slightly tart. Interesting. 4.0/5

Taste: Now the rye's up top, very prominent. Hints of a sweetness underneath, finishes with a bitter hoppiness. The rye's pretty intense at first, but as the tongue gets used to it the flavor is actually quite pleasant. 4.0/5

Mouthfeel: Moderate thickness, low carbonation, high hoppiness. 3.5/5

Drinkability: Not sure. The rye is a bit too prominent for my taste, but overall this is a decent beer. Fans of rye will probably like it more than I do. 3.5/5

Overall: 3.8/5
